Art and Activism : Lucy Lippard’s Trojan Horses Revisted

In Lucy Lippard’s essay “Trojan Horses: Activist Art and Power” she discusses the notion of Art entering into the arena of social change, to introduce ideas in a disguised and subversive manner. Presented as a work of art, the political message then comes to the forefront with the artist’s statement made in the piece itself. How these ideas are disseminated remains a struggle that can only work if done together as a whole.
